Soviet Past in the Shadows of Tbilisi

On December 1-7, 2014 Soviet Past Research Laboratory (SovLab) hosted an exhibition

Soviet Past in the Shadows of Tbilisi.

The exhibition took place at the Writers House (Address: 13, Machabeli st.)

The photos representing 20 most significant events and processes, which took place in Tbilisi in the 20th century during the Soviet period, were presented at the exhibition. Through the montage, visitors will be able to see the historical footage in the modern perspective of the same places. The exhibition included such interesting historical events like overthrow of Sioni bell, opening of Tbilisi Sea, fire at the Opera House, funerals of Galaktioni, etc.

The project is implemented with financial support of the South Caucasus Regional Office of the Heinrich Boell Foundation and its aim is to foster the debates how to keep the memory about our modern history and understand how and why the places where significant historical events take place are changing.
