Mikayel Zolyan

Mikayel Zolyan is a historian and political analyst from Yerevan, Armenia. Since January 2019 he is a member of National Assembly of Armenia, representing the "My Step" alliance, the ruling faction in the Armenian parliament. He also teaches at V. Brusov Yerevan State Linguistic University.

Mikayel Zolyan has graduated from Yerevan State University (Armenia) and Central-European University in Budapest (Hungary); he has also been a visiting scholar at the University of California (Berkeley, CA, USA) and the University of California (Los Angeles, CA, USA). Mikayel is also an alumnus of HBF South Caucasus regional scholarship programme (2004).

Mikayel Zolyan’s research interests include issues of nationalism and ethnicity, ethnopolitical conflict, democratization processes and social movements. Mikael Zolyan is the author of number of academic articles and book chapters published both in Armenia and abroad.
