Gayane Harutyunyan was born in 1988 in Armenia. In 2005 she was admitted to the Department of Sociology at the Yerevan State University (YSU). In 2009, she obtained the BA degree, and in 2011, the MA degree in Sociology. At present she is a PhD student at Yerevan State University, Faculty of Sociology, and department of Applied Sociology. Besides that she is co-founder and active member of Armenian Sociological Club /armsociology.com/ she works for nongovernmental organization Tufenkian Charitable Foundation as а statistician of the projects.

Areas of her scientific interest include such topic as social research methodology especially grounded theory, ethnic identity and ethnic stereotypes, study of social institution transformation.
