Ivlian Haindrava

Ivlian Haindrava is one of the high profiled politicians and political analysts in Georgia. He is the Member of the National Committee of the Republican Party of Georgia since 1992 till present. In 1996-2000 Ivlian Haindrava chaired the Republican Party of Georgia. In1992-1995 he was elected to the Parliament of Georgia where he was actively involved in functioning of the Parliamentary Committee on Abkhazian affairs. At the same time he was one of the key figures of the State Constitutional Commission of Georgia and took part in design of the 1995 constitution of Georgia that built up a stable political system and brought stability to the nation.

Later on after the Rose Revolution of 2003, in 2004-2008 Ivlian Haindrava was elected to the Parliament of Georgia again.

Ivlian Haindrava’s expertise on Georgian and the South Caucasus politics is widely accepted. He has been a head of the South Caucasus Studies Program at the Center for Development and Cooperation – Center for Pluralism from 1996-2008, and leads the same program at the Republican Institute nowadays. He was a Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow at the International Forum for Democratic Studies, National Endowment for Democracy (Washington, DC, USA) in 2002.
