South Caucasus Regional Office of Heinrich Boell Foundation has been implementing annual regional scholarship program for young scientists and civil activists engaged in the sphere of social sciences in three countries of South Caucasus. As a result of nine-year experience of working in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, the HBF has contributed to the training of qualified staff for the Academy as well as for Civil Society. The former scholarship holders of the HBF are now the authors of many new topics and initiatives in different spheres of public life.
The HBF considers it important to support sharing the accumulated experience in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia and giving the birth to new ideas or initiatives based on the obtained knowledge.
With this purpose, South Caucasus Regional Office of Heinrich Boell Foundation announces small grants competition for its former fellowship holders on the following issues:
1. Urban development: market, migration, cultural heritage protection and public policy.
2. Gender equality.
3. Democratic political culture.
4. Rethinking the Soviet past.
South Caucasus Regional Office of Heinrich Boell Foundation Office supports the following activities:
- Strengthening and development of civil education;
- Inclusion of marginal and vulnerable groups into the society;
- Supporting social, environmental and economic principles of justness;
- Reflection of the principles of gender democracy and equality in different spheres of public life.
- 2003-2011 HBF Scholarship holders from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia are eligible for the participation in the grants competition.
- The HBF will accept individual or collective applications.
- Project proposals directed at international cooperation are a priority and very much welcomed.
- The required grant sum should not exceed 5 000.00 Euros.
- Project implementation should cover the period from June to October 2013.
Procedures and regulations of grants competition
1. Project proposal (according to the HBF application and budget form) should not exceed 8-10 pages (1 page = 1800 characters without spaces) and should be submitted in Georgian, Russian or English languages. The proposal should cover and reflect the applicant’s (initiative group, individual) experience, aims, problems and the ways of the project implementation (including the detailed budget calculations). The title page of the project proposal should indicate one of the two announced thematic directions, the title of the project/initiative, its projected budget, and full requisites of the applicant:
a) In the case of the application of the initiative group, the mission statement of the group and CVs of the group members should be attached to the project proposal;
b) In the case of individual application, the title page should indicate the applicant’s personal data (name, date of birth, occupation, home and work address). The applicant’s CV should be attached to the project proposal.
The project proposal must be sent to the following address info@ge.boell.org by 12 April 2013 (Friday, 17:00)
2. Project proposal should provide the justification of its expediency and reflect social and political context, the relevant data (statistics, research, conclusions, etc.), the desirable outcome and the impact of the project.
3. The applicant should clearly state the project aims and easily measurable tasks.
4. The working plan should contain comprehensive and clear information on the following: target group(s), methods, activities and objectives to be implemented, schedule, human resources (the descriptions of project implementers’ functions and certificates of their qualifications).
If the project implies cooperation or synergy with other organizations, it is necessary to indicate the reason and need for such partnership, previous experience of the cooperation with the partners, roles and functions of the parties and corresponding distribution of the budget between the partners (if required).
5. Evaluation: indicators and methods of measuring success, projected outcome;
6. The project budget should be calculated and presented in Euro-currency;
7. Timeline of the project consideration – 12-19 April 2013; Final answer – 22 April 2013
Restrictions:
The HBF gives the priority to the cooperation with organizations, initiative groups and individuals who share environmental policy values.
The applicants must not be involved in any commercial activities.
The Foundation does not support or make any financial contribution to:
• Large purchases (property, infrastructure, technological equipment);
• Current programs and activities supported by other donors.
