Zaruhi Heyrapetyan was born in Omsk/ Russian Federation in 1981. She attended Yerevan State University, studying sociology and psychology at the department of philosophy. In 2002, Zaruhi graduated with a B.A. in sociology. At the moment, she is continuing her studies at EGU, participating in a M.A. sociology programme. Alongside her studies Zaruhi is working at a consultant in a civil society organisation.
Zaruhi’s research project “Alienated in one’s own group – migrants’ mechanisms of adaptation” aims at analysing mechanisms of adaptation applied by repatriates. Research is carried out to disclose motivations of return and to analyse factors of influence concerning the adaptation process. Especially, the project focuses on conflicts regarding local ethnic identities.
