Alexander Iskandaryan is the Director of Caucasus Institute (CI) since January 2005. Prior to becoming director, he headed the CI Research Unit. He teaches the Contemporary Studies and Area Studies courses.
One of the founders of CI, Alexander Iskandarian moved to Yerevan from Moscow to launch the institute in April 2002. Back in Moscow he directed the Center for Caucasus Studies since 1992.
Spheres of scientific interest of Mr. Iskandaryan are Transition, Policy and Democracy Studies; Nation and State Building in the CIS; Media Development; Elites and Societal Change; Ethnopolitical Conflicts in the North and South Caucasus; Migrations.
He has dozens of academic publications in various countries and regularly gives interviews to Western, Russian and Armenian press.
