Sustainable Energy Academy (2016)

Reading time: 2 minutes

The American University of Armenia (AUA) Acopian Center for the Environment in cooperation with the South Caucasus Regional Office of the Heinrich Boell Foundation organized the Sustainable Energy Academy to create a community of students and young professionals in Armenia who will be equipped to promote and implement sustainable energy solutions at building, district/community, and national levels. The efforts of the Academy and its participants/alumni will inform national and local policy discussions on sustainable energy.

Focus of the Sustainable Energy Academy is effective adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in pilot rural areas, aiming to achieve net-zero-energy buildings and communities.

Participants of the Academy attend the theoretical (August 8-13, 2016) and practical (August 8-13, 2016) sessions as well as take part in follow-up activities organized by the Academy for the remainder of 2016. The follow-up activities include short training sessions or public discussions aimed at specific stakeholders (e.g. building materials salespeople, students, etc.).
