The Heinrich Böll Stiftung (hbs), affiliated with the German Green Party, is a legally independent political foundation. Headquartered in Berlin, we have more than 30 offices around the world. The hbs South Caucasus regional office was opened in Tbilisi in 2003, its Yerevan branch office in 2017. The main objectives of hbs South Caucasus are to promote democracy and human rights, gender equality, social and environmental justice, and international dialogue. About the vacancy:
Our current focus areas in the field of gender are 1) the empowerment of feminist and queer actors and 2) care politics. We collaborate with and provide grants to partners (civil society organizations, activist groups, academic institutions, etc.), but also implement our own activities.
The Gender Programme Coordinator of the hbs Tbilisi Office – South Caucasus Region
- Conceptualizes, implements and evaluates the gender program of hbs South Caucasus in consultation with the Office Director, in a goal-oriented way and in line with hbs’ strategy and values;
- Plans, manages and administers projects in the spheres of gender equality and feminism, including LGBTQI issues, with a focus on Georgia and Azerbaijan;
- Drafts and monitors project budgets, contracts and reports;
- Prepares substantive program reports and activity documentation for our office and headquarters;
- Cooperates with, provides managerial support to, and supervises partner organizations and contractors;
- Edits publications and manages our website feminism-boell.org as well as our social media activities in the field of gender;
- Monitors and analyzes political and societal developments, especially with regard to gender issues;
- Develops hbs’ network in the field of gender in Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia (together with the Yerevan Branch Project Coordinator); for this purpose, travel to Azerbaijan and Armenia as well as to the regions of Georgia is required;
- Ensures the implementation of our global hbs Policy on Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment and serves as the gender focal point for the South Caucasus within the hbs network;
- Represents hbs at program-related events.
Required qualifications and experience:
- University degree in gender studies, sociology, political science, international relations or comparable qualification;
- Very good knowledge of feminist and gender issues (e.g. women’s rights, feminism, LGBTQI issues, masculinities, etc.) and related civil society work;
- Several years of relevant work experience in socio-political, international project or political education work, including in project management and budget planning and control;
- Very good writing and editing skills;
- Good understanding of and interest in politics in Georgia and the South Caucasus;
- Excellent knowledge (verbal and written) of Georgian and English;
- Excellent ability to work independently as well as in a multicultural team;
- Excellent time-management, communication and organisational skills;
- High attention to detail and sense of responsibility;
- Very good computer skills, especially MS Office;
- Identification with green values and the mission of the Heinrich Böll Stiftung.
Desirable, but not required:
- Knowledge of German;
- Demonstrated interest in development cooperation and relations with Germany/the EU;
- Interest in/experience with communications and social media.
Working place: Tbilisi, Georgia. Commencement of work: September 5, 2022.
