In cooperation with the Heinrich Boell Stiftung Yerevan Office – South Caucasus Region, “Ecolur” Informational NGO implements a project titled “Empowering Communities Through Participation and Awareness in Climate Policy Implementation in Armenia.”
Despite Armenia’s commitments to various international environmental and climate change obligations, the mechanisms for civil society involvement in discussion processes and recommendations on concepts/strategies or laws to be adopted remain weak. It is essential to encourage and strengthen community participation from within, ensuring that community needs and capacities are assessed. This approach will enable communities to protect their interests in the implementation of state policies, and enhance the transparency and accountability of these processes by the Armenian government.
The overall goal of the project is to promote community participation in the implementation of the Armenia’s climate policy and to increase the accountability of the Armenian government.
The goal will be achieved though the following objectives:
1. Conduct close monitoring of Armenia's climate policies and develop recommendations for improvement.
2. Enhance the participation of climate vulnerable communities in discussions with the Armenian Government regarding climate policy.
3. Launch an awareness campaign to boost transparency and accountability in the implementation of Armenia's climate policies and stakeholder recommendations.
To achieve this goal and its objectives, Ecolur NGO will conduct in-depth analyses and compile recommendation packages to be presented to the Government of Armenia. Additionally, the NGO will organize roundtable discussions to facilitate dialogue and engagement.
