Ia Eradze

Ia Eradze ia a political economist and has a Phd in social and economic sciences from the University of Kassel. She is currently an associate professor at the Georgian Institute for Public Affairs (GIPA) and a CERGE-EI Foundation teaching fellow. She is also a researcher at the Institute for Social and Cultural Research, Ilia State University (Georgia).
In 2022-2023, Ia was a visiting scholar at Harvard University, Trinity College, Sciences Po, and the University of Vienna. In 2019-2022 she worked on a postdoctoral research project at the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History, Potsdam (ZZF), in the network Legacies of Communism.
Ia is currently working on the research project “Crypto Currencies and Development Mode in Flux: unfolding Bitcoin mining in Georgia“. She is interested in development issues and authoritarianism in post-socialist states. Her research topics include financialization, state theory, neoliberalism, central banking, currency hierarchy and household debt.
Ia`s book Unravelling Dollarization Persistence: the case of Georgia was published by Routledge in 2023.
