Shota Kincha is a researcher at Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center; has worked as an invited lecturer at the Tbilisi State University, as a trainer in gender-based violence issues at the Ilia State University, and as a media analyst. He holds a Master’s Degree in Nationalism Studies from the School of Social and Political Science, the University of Edinburgh. Prior to that, he completed a Master’s program of Cultural Studies at the Tbilisi State University. His main research interests are nationalism and ethnicity studies, and gender and sexuality-related civil activism, with an accent on Central and Eastern Europe. With regards to post-Communist space, Shota is also interested in collective memories and politics of the post-totalitarian memory. One of his theses is entitled Post-Soviet Georgian Nationalism in the Context of Social Memory and Cultural Trauma Theories; he is currently working on a research project that scrutinizes forms and narratives of commemoration of the WW2 Victory in Eastern Europe.
