Haykanush Chobanyan was born in 1978. She graduated with a degree in History from Yerevan State Pedagogical University in 1999. First as a junior and then as a leading specialist, she has been working at the Migration Agency for Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration since 2000. In addition to holding this post, she has also participated in several international, regional and local training programs and conferences. Her academic interests include migration and refugee problems, peace-building and conflict resolution.
Her research project in the framework of the Heinrich-Böll-Foundation scholarship program is titled “Process of reintegration: Armenians returning home”. This project aims to ascertain the motivations of Armenians for emigrating and then deciding to return to Armenia. Here, the problems of integration in a foreign country and reintegration into the country of origin, as well as the socio-psychological and socio-cultural problems associated with this phenomenon will be investigated.
