Mikayel Zolyan

Mikayel Zolyan is a social researcher, political analyst and a former politician from Yerevan, Armenia. He is one of the most well-known political commentators in Armenia at the moment. His areas of expertise include issues of politics of memory, nationalism, national identity, foreign policy and regional conflict, social and political movements, and democratization. After the revolution in 2018 Zolyan entered the parliament as a member of the ruling block “My Step”. In 2021 he returned to academia and civil society. Currently he is conducting research on politics of memory and national identity in late Soviet and post-Soviet Armenia. He is also working as a consultant with Armenian and international NGOs, and is the host of a TV show on the Armenian educational channel Boon TV.
