Sona Balasanyan

Sona Balasanyan was born in 1987, Yerevan, Armenia. She is a candidate of Sociological Sciences. Currently she is a life-long learning projects designer and evaluator of Mesrop Mashtots Scientific Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. She has seven years of work experience in the Armenian educational system (as a sociologist and methodology specialist in quality measurement). Sona delivers “Quality measurement methodologies” course in Yerevan State University, Faculty of Sociology and “Sociology of Arts” course in Armenian National Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Art Science. In 2013, she coordinated the “Alternative resources in Media” project of CRRC Armenia.

Sona’s professional interests refer to the sociology of education. Specifically, she observes education as a symbolic mechanism for social control defining teaching as a social communication. Sona is an author of more than ten articles and socio-philosophical essays.
