Rainder Steenblock

Rainder Steenblock was Minister of Environment in Schleswig-Holstein from 1996 to 2000 and a Member of the German Bundestag from 1994 to 2009, where his portfolio included EU Accession and European Neighborhood Policy. He extensively monitored and reported on the negotiations with new EU membership candidates and supported the creation of democratic, transparent and efficient governance structures. He also focused of on sustainable and efficient energy policies.

Mr. Steenblock has first-hand experience in profiling and administratively leading a Ministry, and extensive political contacts in Central and Eastern Europe. Since 1983 he is a member of Green Party of Germany.

A psychologist by education, he has also worked as a teacher and trainer in vocational adult education.
