Mining and extractive industries and related Socio-Ecological Aspects

(ongoing project)  In 2018-2021 Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center (EMC) with the support of the Heinrich Boell Foundation Tbilisi Office implements the project "Mining and extractive industries and related Socio-Ecological Aspects".

The goal of the project is to study the social, economic and political aspects related to the extraction and mining of natural minerals by accumulating research and new knowledge, creating critical arguments and developing the alternative approaches of the mainstream discourse. In addition, the aim of the project is to ensure strengthening ties between groups working on the issue or those interested in them, and as a result of consolidation of power of the population living in the industrialized regions, the critical mass of the society, public actors of academia, researchers, activists and students, it will be possible to bring the issue into the political agenda and to articulate it in a alternative way,  to develop a new vision and the potential for an alternative development of the industrial regions.
