Heinrich Boell Foundation Yerevan Office- South Caucasus Region in cooperation with “Aliq Media Armenia” NGO launches a new project called “War and Peace: Human Stories”.

After the 2020 Karabakh war there is a huge uncertainty in the Armenian society regarding the future as many things are not clear yet. While ordinary people mourn their loss, the aggressive and violent rhetoric, extensive use of media manipulation fuels the public moods and silences the conversation about peace, healing and post-war reconstruction. The mainstream stories about the war shadow the human stories and the human side of post-war consequences.

The main goals of the project is to contribute to post-war reconstruction and social cohesion through raising awareness about human aspects and consequences of the war, as well as encourage debate and discussion about the possibility of sustainable peace in the region through human stories on the war.

During the project, 8 documentaries will be produced depicting the stories of people who are struggling the consequences of the war. They will be shot in their usual settings. Apart from broadcasting, public viewings will be organized in order to instigate public discussion.

As a result of the project, the public awareness will be raised about the human aspects of the war. In the long term, it can contribute also to the sustainable peace in the region.

The project will last from 5 February 2021 to 20 July 2021.
