Dr. Dawid Danilo Bartelt

Dr. Dawid Danilo Bartelt studied history and social sciences in Bochum, Hamburg (Germany), Recife (Brazil) and Berlin. Since 1989 he has worked as a journalist and author addressing issues around international politics, Latin America and Brazil. From 2002 to 2010 he was spokesperson for the German section of Amnesty International in Berlin. In 2010 he joined the Heinrich Böll Foundation and took over the management of the office in Brazil until 2016. From May 2017 to the end of 2022 he headed the regional office in Mexico City. He currently heads the Istanbul-Turkey office of the Heinrich Boell Foundation.

He is the author of the book: Nature and conflict: The exploitation of resources in Latin America. And the article in German: After the World Cup now comes the Olympics. Mega-events (sports) in Brazil between urban planning, speculation and the right to the city. He coordinated the publication Powers That Be. State capture, criminal networks and violence in Latin America, jointly edited by the offices of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Latin America.
