As Armenia prepares to host the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in 2026, the urgency to address the country’s biodiversity crisis has never been greater. Against a backdrop of accelerating climate change, aggressive resource extraction, irregular urbanisation, and inadequate environmental governance, the Green Laboratorium in Armenia – 2025 will provide a platform to engage scholars, activists, journalists, and youth in a forward-looking dialogue.

In the context of intensifying pressures on biodiversity, Green Laboratorium in Armenia – 2025 aims to critically examine the intersection of biodiversity loss and political ecology. The program will explore how state and business-driven priorities, particularly around mining, infrastructure, and territorial conflicts, often override ecological concerns and marginalise community voices. Green Lab 2025 will focus on rethinking biodiversity as a dynamic element shaping and shaped by social, political, and environmental forces.

Green Laboratorium 2025 will combine diverse formats such as lectures, discussions, workshops, film screenings and activities in nature.

The Laboratory's guest speakers represent academia and environmental activism.
