Sergey Rumyantsev, sociologist (PhD), was born in Baku (Azerbaijan) in 1973. Sergey obtained the fellowship from the Heinrich Boell Foundation South Caucasus Regional Bureau Scholarship Program in 2004. From 2003 until 2014, he was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in Baku. 2010-2012 he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. From 2015 until 2016, he was a Visiting Research Professor at the Georg-Eckert-Institute for International Textbooks Research (Braunschweig). His main areas of research include nationalism, politics of memory, urban anthropology, diaspora and migration and Soviet studies, with a focus on conflicts in the post-Soviet space. Sergey is an author of more than 50 publications. As an author and editor he contributes to different media and analytical editions. Since 2015, he is a permanent editor of the caucasus edition.net. Since 2015, he is a co-founder of CISR e.V. Berlin and leads projects on media and conflict transformation.
